We are doing well enough. We have been working hard on a triplex we recently bought. We fixed it up so nice that we are too picky with renters and haven't rented it out yet. We don't want pets or smokers or low credit scores. Well anyway, we are still working on the basement unit and hope to have it refinanced soon.
The fourplex we own 1/2 of is most likely scheduled to be torn down by the city in the next year to provide a nice turning lane. I have decided to rent it to people that own pets so that I can obtain top dollar from the city. I have increased the rents by a $100 in one unit (she has a pitbull and a terrier). I hope to do the same in the unit that comes available next month. The funny thing about having done this is that the city will have to provide and locate housing for my tenants for maybe up to six months after they tear my place down. Good luck trying to find housing for a pit bull...
The kids start their schoolwork at around 9am or so and if they stay on track can finish everything by noon. We learned recently that our kids are not considered homeschooled by Utah anymore as K12.com online program that is offered through the Davis County School District (Layton, UT) completed their pilot program. We now have an official public school number and there may be some additional admission benefits to us when we travel on field trips (i.e. Disneyland, LegoLand and such). The kids did really well on the SAT's last year - Naysia did so well in Math (95 percentile) that she was invited to attend honor classes in Layton (we declined because it is 90 miles away). Kaylor is heavily involved in the Deacon's Quorum and Scouting and is also a Den Chief for the younger scouts. Codi and Naysia are enjoying Achievement Day activities every other week and were excited to start babysitting. They are really proud of the fact that people trust them with their kids when they are so young. We get comments from their primary teachers all the time about how good they are with kids. Danica is learning to read better and loves to draw. Keely's father is over the art program for USU's elementary school and is always commenting on her 'artistic abilities'. I think she would draw and create all day if we would let her. Tairson and Daylon are learning how to play games on the computer and how to scratch DVD's. (LOL) And Kaetla and Jaydi team up with Daylon everyday and make the most wonderful messes...Ha ha. We have dubbed them 'The Three Musketeers" Our kids enjoy all their free time and wish their friends didn't have so much homework. Our kids actually do their homework online and while they are at school. Perhaps, our children qualify for the "voucher" program recently passed but at this point we have no intentions of changing. Keely, besides teaching and overseeing the lessons each day with school, also team teaches the 11-12 year old Primary kids and works on the triplex. I am working in the nursery where we have over 25 toddlers enrolled (luckily or unluckily for us only about 15 show up - 3 of the kids are mine).
We recently subscribed all the kids to ContentWatch on all our family computers in an attempt to prevent them from ever seeing things they shouldn't on the internet - as they are on the internet quite a bit. We haven't had any problems with all that and hope we never do.
I am finally getting my Brokers license and have been traveling to SLC to take the 120-hour course for the last several weeks. I should be done in about 2-3 weeks and ready to take the state exam.
Well it's late,
Brady & Keely
